Syrian Engineers Club Competition

The Syrian Engineers Club project proposes a multifunctional recreational and elderly care facility conceived as an architecture of continuous growth. Located within a mountainous landscape and defined by a surrounding circular loop, the design responds to its context through a modular system that allows the building to evolve over time while maintaining a clear and complete architectural identity at every stage of development.
The design is based on the growth of autonomous units, where the individual module, such as a bedroom within the elderly care facility functions as a complete architectural mass. These units are progressively assembled into vertical linear groupings, which then expand both vertically and horizontally to form a cohesive architectural whole. This phased aggregation enables flexibility, future expansion, and adaptability without disrupting the overall spatial or formal coherence of the project.
Each unit is designed to operate independently or as part of a larger collective, allowing multiple configurations that accommodate diverse programmatic needs, including recreation, dining, social spaces, and care facilities. The final mass emerges as an enclosing structure, generated by the extrusion of units along the site’s circular geometry and shaped by the surrounding topography, creating a concrete framework that organizes the project spatially and visually.
Through this strategy, the project establishes a dynamic relationship between part and whole, permanence and growth. The resulting architecture is adaptable, contextual, and responsive,an integrated environment that supports social interaction, leisure, and care while allowing for continuous transformation over time.
